10. Enjoy the Puerto Rican Rum
Puerto Ricans are known as vibrant individuals who know how to party. Besides, they also take pride in their own Bacardi Rum. If you happen to be there, Bacardi Rum Factory is one of the unmissable places. It produces over 100000 gallons of rum every day. If you are a rum lover looking to sample different varieties, Bacardi Rum Factory is definitely a great destination. Make sure of buying different brands of rum when you are in Puerto Rico.
9. Visit Tanama River
Don’t forget to visit Tanama River while you are at Puerto Rico. It’s one of the spectacular underground rivers and is an excellent hiking and body rafting destination in Tanama River. Do not miss giving raft a try. It’s just awesome. Tanama River offers you an extreme adventure of rappelling down the rock around the multiple waterfalls and rivers. The wonderful El Tunel in Rio Tanama near Ceremonial Park is a must-visit destination. The El Tunel is 40 feet tall and 300 feet long cavern where the Rio Tanama flows under the ground. This is one of incredible places for ecological and photographic adventures.
8. Visit Puerto Rico Convention Center
Puerto Rico Convention Center is a piece of architectural artwork. It is known to be the largest Convention Center in the entire Caribbean region. Situated at the historic district of Miramar in San Juan, Puerto Rico holds different cultural events and conferences throughout the year. It’s also a part of a larger entertainment complex that includes cinema, some restaurants and waterfront cafes. Do not miss to spend a pleasant day to walk the area.
7. Taste Some Local Foods
Puerto Rico has a great mix of restaurants. It has everything from cafeterias to 5-star restaurants. Be sure to try some traditional Puerto Rico cuisine. You can visit some restaurants with excellent dining choices. While at Old San Juan, you can head to the neighbourhood of Ocean Park for some beach front and laid back eateries. Don’t forget to have some local foods like lechon, exotic tropical fruits, mofongo, and so on. Foodies can taste the Puerto Rican gastronomy, and of course the famous Rums.
6. Hike to El Yunque Rainforest
The only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest System lies in El Yunque. A couple of hours drive from San juan will bring you to El Yunque. Passing through the lush and mountainous terrain, you marvel at the beauty and abundant surrounding flora of this rainforest. You can get the experience of pleasant walk to difficult climbs. It’s a regular that people have been hiking to El Yunque for driving under a waterfall.
5. Horse Back Riding
Another interesting part of being at Puerto Rico is you can enjoy Horse Back Riding there. Although the horses are not wild, the ride makes you realize that it takes some physical struggle for horse back riding. The large part of the trail goes through the forest, though riding along the beachfront is always the best part of Horse Back Riding in Puerto Rico. The walk mostly includes trotting and some walking. Don’t forget to wear jeans and closed shoes in order to protect your legs from scrapping.
4. Visit the Old San Juan
If you are in the trip to Puerto Rico, Old San Juan Historic District is such a fantastic destination you must visit before leaving the island. San Juan is the place where History Buffs can enjoy old world charm of the island. You probably can’t miss visiting the Old San Juan if you are in Puerto Rico trips. It’s a National Historic Site with rich history and wonderful places. Even if you only go to Puerto Rico for the sun and the beach, the wonderful cultural and historical place of Old San Juan would be good to include in your trip. You can explore some legitimately unique shops and plenty of cheap tourist stuffs. Old San Juan makes for a fantastic afternoon of sightseeing, strolling and shopping. Visiting the Old San Juan is always gonna be the favorite part of your trip.’
3. Explore the Camuy River Caverns
The magnificent Camuy River Caverns let you discover the underground things to do in San Juan Puerto Rico. The Camuy Cave is known as one of the largest cave systems in the world. Experience the caverns through a trolley tour and you can walk around the trails as well. Rio Camuy Caves were carved by the Camuy River which is known to be the third largest subterranean river in the world. Over 200 caves crossing more than 10 miles have been mapped till the date. Another attraction is the Spiral Sinkhole and Cave where you can walk the 205 steps down in the sinkhole. It is believed to have once been an enormous cavern. If you are an experienced spelunker, you can visit Sinkhole as it is off limits to all others.
2. Visit the Bioluminescent Bay
There are three bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico. You would start with Mosquito Bay in Vieques Island. Just try to go on a dark night and start kayaking through the mangrove trees out into the Mosquito Bay. You will soon be noticing that your oars glowing green in the water, fishes streak away from you like underwater lightening. You can glow like an angel in the Bioluminescent Bays. Mosquito Bioluminescent Bay is one of the most wonderful bays in the world. Obviously, it’s one of the most amazing experiences the all-star island Puerto Rico has to offer.
1. Play Flamenco Beach in Culebra
Playa Flamenco Beach on Culebra is often cited as one of the best beaches in the world. It is an almost waveless and sheltered cove. Surrounded by greenery, The Flamenco beach is long and wide. You can get there by airplane from the Fajardo Airport or by ferry. Flamenco is an astounding beach with white, soft sand and clear water. Culebra thus is the must go destination in Puerto Rico. Pictures obviously don’t do this place any justice. So, we really need to venture into this amazing place as a part of our exciting holiday trip. Playa Flamenco undoubtedly is one of the breathtaking beaches in the world.
